ALAETTİN AKSOY

He was born in Trabzon in 1942. He studied painting at the Bedri Rahmi workshop of the Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts between 1963-1968. While he was still a student at the academy, his works were exhibited at the Paris Museum of Modern Arts as part of the Young Artists Biennial. He opened his first solo exhibition at the German Cultural Center in Istanbul in 1969, the year following his graduation. He went to France on a state scholarship in 1972. During the 5 years he spent in Paris, he participated in group exhibitions held in various centers in France, also, in 1975, his lithographies were exhibited in Seoul with selected examples from French art. Returning to Turkey in 1977, he became a faculty member at Mimar Sinan University Fine Arts Faculty. Alaettin Aksoy, who retired in 2006 and left the academy, continues to work on his canvases in his own studio in Istanbul. The works of the artist have been accepted to our museum by donation.
