ATİLLA ATAR

Atilla Atar was born in Trabzon, Vakfıkebir in 1944. He continued his secondary education in different cities. He graduated from Edirne Boys' Primary School in 1962. He graduated from Gazi Institute of Education, Department of Painting and Crafts in 1965. He worked as a painting teacher in secondary education institutions (Malatya, Bergama, Bolu) for a while. He attended Ankara State Language School in 1973-74.

Did graduate studies on Major Concentration of Printmaking at Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts in Paris between 1975-1976 and 1980-1981 with a state scholarship.

He received his Proficiency in Art degree from Social Siences Institute in Mimar Sinan University in İstanbul in 1986 and became associate professor in 1990 and professor in 1995. He worked as professor at İzmir Buca Education Institute, Anadolu University and İzmir Yaşar University. He had 32 solo exhibitions, (one abroad), and received 17 awards.

Atar has significant contributions in the establishment of Anadolu University Museum of Contemporary Arts where also acted as the founding director. He established Department of Printmaking in Fine Arts Faculty at Anadolu University. He chaired the Graphics, Cartoons and Print Arts departments, respectively.

Acted as the Dean of Fine Arts Faculty and Director of Social Sciences Institute, Museum of Contemporary Arts and Institutional Memory Administration. Participating in many national and international artistic events, the artist has works in collections in Turkey and abroad. The artist living in Eskişehir, continues artistic works in his art studio. The works of the artist have been accepted to our museum by donation.
