CENGİZ BEKTAŞ
He was born in Denizli in 1934. He studied at the Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts, Department of Interior Architecture and Architecture; in 1959, he graduated from Munich Technical University, Department of Architecture. He followed the courses of the German Urbanism Academy in 1960. Between 1959-62, in Munich, he managed a bureau jointly created by Prof. Dr. Fred Angerer and Alexander Baron von Branca. He worked as a freelance Architect. In 1962, he was called to Middle East Technical University as a lecturer. He managed Construction Affairs Architectural Office there. He left the university voluntarily.
He worked as a lecturer at Zafer Engineering and Architecture School between 1966-69. He taught "Public Buildings Art”at Trakya University for two years. He gave lectures to graduate students of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Faculty of Architecture, Department of Urban Planning, on "The Effect of Culture on Planning"; he also lectured on "Aesthetics" at the Faculty of Fine Arts. He served as a guest lecturer for a short time and gave conferences in Macedonia, US, and Germany, where he was invited. He received more than 25 awards in international and national architecture competitions. He created buildings that are among the examples of the Republican Period. He worked on printmaking at IMOGA in 2017. He passed away in 2020.
