EKREM KAHRAMAN

He was born in Tarsus on January 17th, 1948. He graduated from Tarsus High School in 1968 and Istanbul Education Institute Painting Department in 1971. After working in secondary education institutions (Adana Kozan, Bandırma and Istanbul) for a while, he quit teaching in 1989 and decided to continue his life as an artist entirely. He opened more than 100 personal exhibitions in Turkey and abroad and participated in many group exhibitions. He took part in national and international fairs and won 16 painting awards. He worked on printmaking at IMOGA in 2015. He was named "Honored Artist of the Year" by UPSD (International Plastic Arts Association affiliated to Unesco AIAP) in 2016. He received the Artist of the Year Award together with Mehmet Güleryüz and Ergin İnan in the 2nd Art Show Art Fair for his contributions to contemporary art in 2019.

He won Istanbul Art, Culture and Tourism Association World Art Day Golden Lion Honor Plaque in 2021. Numerous brochures, catalogs and books about his art have been published and four documentary films have been shot. He has his paintings in national and international private and public collections. His articles have been published in Art Circle, Art in Turkey, Genç Sanat, Çekirdek Sanat, CEY Sanat, rh + Sanat, Artist Sanat magazines and Bosphorus SANAT Newspaper. He published the Artist's Workshop Magazine between 2007-2008. Since 2011, he has published columns in Aydınlık Newspaper on contemporary art, the ideology of art and the art of ideology, contemporary art museums, etc.
