He was born in Çankırı in 1947. Between 1968-72 he studied at Istanbul State Academy of Applied Fine Arts. The artist, who became an assistant to the same institution in 1974, received the Salzburg City Award in 1979 with the lithographs he made at the Salzburg Summer Academy.

Karakoç, who received a Proficiency in Art in Original Printmaking in 1983, became an associate professor in 1986, and a professor in 1993, and worked at Marmara University Fine Arts Faculty until January 2002. He has been working as a lecturer at Yeditepe University Fine Arts Faculty since February 2002. The works of the artist have been accepted to our museum by donation.
