GÜLSEREN SÜDOR

She was born in 1945 in Ordu. In 1965, after completing her secondary education at Kadıköy Girls’ High School in 1965, in 1970 she graduated from the Studio of Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu at the Painting Department of the Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts (now known as Mimar Sinan University). The same year, she went to Italy to study painting and art history with her husband, the painter Teoman Südor, and lived there until 1974. Since her return to Turkey, she has taught painting, art history and technical education in Üskudar Halide Edip Adivar, Kadıköy Anatolian and Italian High Schools. She worked as a lecturer in the Istanbul Technical University and Istanbul University Department of Art History. In 1986, she produced original printmaking in Çamlıca Art House. As a result of her studies, she won the second prize at the II. Trofeo Raffaello International Competition (1986) and the third prize at the XIII. Trofeo Dürer International Competition (1987) in Milan. After completing her teaching career in 1995, Südor continues to work in her studio, and is writing books and art reviews.
