GÜNGÖR İBLİKÇİ

He was born in 1936 in Akşehir. After graduating from Istanbul State Fine Arts Academy (MSU) Painting Department ranking first in his class, he moved to Switzerland. In Switzerland, where he lived for more than thirty years, he graduated from the Department of Etching of the Fine Arts Academy in Geneva, and etching formed the basis of İblikçi’s art. In 2012, he produced etching works at the Istanbul Museum of Graphic Arts. While indicating that the cultural richness of Anatolia constitutes an unlimited source for an artist, İblikçi emphasizes that due to its importance in cultural history, inscription is of special interest to him. He has had many exhibitions in Turkey and abroad, where he has also been the recipient of many awards. His paintings are in many prestigious collections. Currently, he lives and works in Istanbul.
