Hasan Kıran was born in 1966 in Malatya. He graduated from İnönü University, Faculty of Education, Painting Department in 1993. Between 1995 and 1997, he studied in Germany. In 1998, he received his "Master's Degree in Art" from Hacettepe University with his thesis on "Causality in Artistic Creation". In 2000, he worked as a research assistant at Yüzüncü Yıl University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Painting Department. In 2003, he studied on Traditional Japanese Woodblock Printing Art at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts, Printing Department, as a research assistant. In 2005, he entered the "Doctoral Program" in the “Printing Department” of the same university and won the "Rotary Education Scholarship". He received his "PhD in Art" (Ph.D.) degree from Tokyo State University of the Arts with his thesis on "Visual Thesis on Shamanistic Images" in 2008. Between 2009 and 2012, he worked as a faculty member at Yüzüncü Yıl University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Painting Department. He won the "TUBITAK Abroad Research Scholarship" in 2012 and did research (post doctorate) on "Contemporary Woodblock Printmaking Techniques in the case of Japan" in Tokyo, Musashino Art University. The artist, who has been working as a faculty member at Hacettepe University Fine Arts Faculty Painting Department since 2013, presented his work in 7 solo exhibitions abroad and nearly 30 in Turkey. He also displayed his work in several group performances.

Won a total of 18 awards including; Art Institute "Artist of the Year Award" (Print Painting, 2008- 2009), 29th, 33rd and 35th DYO Painting Competition Achievement Awards, 1st International Istanbul Printing Biennial, Lukas Hahnemühle Special Award (2008), 5th Hide Takayama (Japan) Woodblock Biennial, Juntai-sho (Second Place) Award (2007), 4th, 5th and 7th International Kyoto (Japan) KIWA Woodblock Exhibition Special Awards, 57. 61. 63. 70. and 72. State Painting-Sculpture Exhibition, Achievement Awards.

Participated in many international juried group exhibitions like, 14th and 17th International R.O.C. Print Biennial, Taichung- Taiwan, International Istanbul Printing Biennial, International Krakow Printing Triennial- Poland, International Bankog Printing and Drawing Exhibition, Tailand, International Kanagawa Printing Triennial- Japan, International Falun Printing Triennial, Falun- Sweden, 13th International Varna Printing Biennial, Varna Bulgaria, 4th International Egyptian Printing Triennial, Gizza-Egypt, International Istanbul Printing Triennial – Istanbul. His book named “Ağaç Baskı Sanatı” was published by Bellek Yayınları in 2010. The works of the artist have been accepted to our museum by donation.
