HÜSAMETTİN KOÇAN

He was born in 1946 in Bayburt. He graduated from the Painting Department of the State Applied Fine Arts School in 1970. In 1975, he started working as an assistant at the same school. In 1978, he studied at the International Summer Academy of Fine Arts in Salzburg with the Austrian Government Scholarship. He was awarded the "Salzburg City Honor Award". He completed his research on Turkish folk paintings in 1980. He became a lecturer the following year. In 1983, he received his proficiency in art from Marmara University. He became associate professor in 1986 and professor in 1993. From 1997 to 2005, he served as the dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Marmara University.

Koçan, who played a role in the establishment of the Turkish branch of the International Art Association (AIAP), an organization affiliated with UNESCO, served as the chairman of the board of directors of this association between 1990-1995. The artist, who is the founder of Baksı Museum and Istanbul Art Fairs; He carried out dozens of study and research projects in countries such as Germany, Austria, Belgium, South Korea, England, Spain, Italy, Japan, Portugal and Poland. In 2009, he became the dean of the Fine Arts Faculty of Okan University. He was awarded The Grand National Assembly of Turkey Honor Award in 2014. The works of the artist have been accepted to our museum by donation.
