İdil Üstünel, who was born in Istanbul in 1964, began working at an advertising agency while studying Chemical Engineering, and engaged in areas involving creativity while working. After working at the agency of cartoonist Salih Memecan, she worked for an extended period in her own firm on implementing toy creation, and on development and marketing of 3D promotional materials. She attended Irfan Önürmen’s workshop at Pi Artworks and continued at the Nilgün Sabar workshop for a long period. Between 2010 - 2014 she participated in workshops with Nilgün Sabar focused on developing creativity through the free association method producing 2 and 3 dimensional works among various artistic disciplines. Her interest in light and colors was honed while continuing at the Izzet Keribar workshop. In 2016 she produced original printmaking at the IMOGA Etching [Print] Academy.
