KOMET

Born in 1941 in Çorum, Komet, whose real name is Mehmet Gurkan Coskun, is often referred to by the name Komet [Ing. Comet] inspired by the name of a music group. Between 1960-67, he studied at Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts (now Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University). Throughout his training, he worked at Zeki Faik İzer and Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu Ateliers. In 1971, he was awarded a state scholarship to go to Paris where he studied at Vincennes University, Department of Plastic Arts. In 1974, he opened his first exhibition in Rouen, France. He held many exhibitions in global art centers including Vienna, Lausanne, Salzburg, and Brussels. In 1991, he produced project-based serigraphy works at Çamlıca Art House. He produced art works in Paris and Istanbul. He passed away in 2022.
