LEYLA ERSİN EKMEKCİLER

She was born in Istanbul. She graduated from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Graphics Department in 1983. She completed her master's degree and proficiency in art at the same university. Between 1984-1994, she completed her theses in the field of Painting Restoration, specializing in Italian restoration technique at Associate Professor Fethi Kayaalp Old Painting Restoration Atelier. She started working as a research assistant at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in 1995 and established her personal studio. Between 1995-1998, she worked in the Conservation and Restoration Studio of MSGSU Painting and Sculpture Museum. In 1998, she was appointed as a research assistant to Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Graphic Design Department, Süleyman Saim Tekcan Original Printmaking Atelier. She became associate professor in 2005 and professor in 2011.

She worked as the director of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Tophane-i Amire Practice and Research Center and held various administrative positions. She has two awards: State Painting and Sculpture Competition and Ayşe Ercümend Kalmuk Foundation, Achievement Awards in Original Printmaking. She continued to work as a professor at MSGSU Graphic Design Department, Original Printmaking Atelier until her retirement in 2021. She participated in many group exhibitions at home and abroad. Her works are in many collections at home and abroad. She is married and has a son. The works of the artist have been accepted to our museum by donation.
