MARIA SEZER

She was born in 1954 in The Netherlands. She earned her master's degree from Neşet Günal Studio in 1980. In 1996, she started her printing studies at Mimar Sinan University Graphic Department's Original Printing Studio. In 2004, she received Proficiency in Arts degree from the Institute of Social Sciences at Mimar Sinan University. Her thesis is entitled, "The Relationship Between Nature and Artistic Creation in Plastic Arts after the 1960s". She produced original printmaking at Çamlıca Art House in 1986 and 1998. In 2008, she worked on printmaking at the Istanbul Museum of Graphic Arts. In her works, she explores the link between nature and man, in a broad sense. She identifies time-related change with the changing identity of women. She chooses from among a wide range of techniques and makes a selection depending on the subject she focused on while she is working. Alongside her professional art life, she often taught art. The techniques she uses vary depending on subject.

In 2016, she became the founder of the artist initiative named For the Love of Bee with Nil İlkbaşaran and Güngör Erdem. For the Love of Bee held art education and exhibitions about bees in various places. She participated in many group and solo exhibitions and symposiums througout Turkey and abroad. Sezer lives and continues her art work in Istanbul.
