Mehmet Pesen was born in 1923 in Istanbul. He earned his undergraduate degree from the İstanbul Academy of Fine Arts, Department of Painting, Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu Studio, in 1948. After graduation, he worked as an art teacher and administrator at the Gelenbevi Middle School, Istanbul Boys’ High School, Giresun High School, Özel Moda High School, and Haydarpaşa High School until his retirement in 1977.  Between 1982-1988, he produced printmaking at Süleyman Saim Tekcan's studio in Söğütlüçeşme and at The Çamlıca House of Art. With his colleagues from the studio, he took part in the founding of the On’lar Grubu. He died in 2012.
