SEMİH BALCIOĞLU

Semih Balcıoğlu was born in Istanbul in 1928. He completed his secondary education at the Private Işık High School. In 1951, he earned his undergraduate degree from the İstanbul Academy of Fine Arts, Department of Graphic Arts. He formed the Caricaturists Association with two of his friends in 1969 and served as Chairman of the Association for two terms. Between 1973-1979 he served as President of the Turkish Journalists Union. He worked at various magazine and newspapers. He produced printmaking at The Çamlıca House of Art in 1984 and at the printmaking studio of Istanbul Museum of Graphic Arts in 2004. He died in 2006.
