SEMİH KAPLAN
Semih Kaplan was born in Istanbul in 1976. He was one of the first graduates of Eskişehir Fine Arts High School Painting Department. He completed his undergraduate education at Anadolu University Fine Arts Faculty Ceramics Department in 1998. In the same year, he started to work as a lecturer at Anadolu University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Graphics. He completed his postgraduate education in Anadolu University, Institute of Social Sciences, Ceramics Department between 1998 and 2003 and his Proficiency in Art education in Anadolu University Institute of Fine Arts Painting Department between 2003 and 2009. He became assistant professor in the Department of Basic Education in 2010 and associate professor in the Department of Basic Education in 2016. Basic Design, Design Principles, Color Theory, and lithography are among the courses that he gives. The artist, who opened many solo exhibitions, in the fields of painting, tile, ceramics and original prints, has awarded from various competitions; especially the 59th Goverment Painting and Sculpture Exhibition Ceramic Competition, the 65th Goverment Painting and Sculpture Exhibition Original Print Competition, and the Naval Forces Command's "10th Sea and Human" Painting Competition.
The artist who is on the jury of the International Römhild Ceramics Symposium, has participated in many symposiums, workshops, and exhibitions in Germany, China, Japan, Spain, Moldova with his works. Aiming to contribute to the promotion of our country and our artists, by bringing outstanding examples of Turkey's contemporary painting, sculpture and tile art to the international arena and to a wide range of interests, to be exhibited at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey in Ankara and at our representative offices abroad, one of the artists selected within the scope of the project for the production and purchase of artworks carried out in the 2011-2013 period, Large-size acrylic paintings on canvas, watercolor paintings and stonepast tile wall paintings by Semih Kaplan are included to the Collection of Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Also; taking into account the architectural project of the new service building of our Berlin Embassy, the project of which was prepared by the German "Nickol-Schmidt-HIIIig" Architecture Bureau,through competition in 2012, in order to be permanently preserved in the foyer of the ambassador office and meeting floor, in harmony with the integrity of the space. he carried out the design, application and assembly of the stone tile wall painting work named. "Distances" in 200x600 cm.
Simultaneously with the completion of the new service building and campus of the Turkish Embassy in Abuja, the project of which was prepared by the "TH& İDİL" Architecture Bureau in 2013, the acrylic work of 200 x 584 cm on canvas, "Other Worlds", in harmony with the architectural project and the integrity of the space, is permanently exhibiting in the Embassy building. With the completion of the new service building of our Ulan Bator Embassy in 2013, the project of which was prepared by Architect Han Tümertekin, in July 2013, he carried out the design, implementation and assembly of the 200x150 cm stone tile wall painting, the "Roots", which is in harmony with the architectural project and spatial integrity, and which processes the development of Turkish culture and civilization from the Orkhon Monuments to the present, is being exhibited permanently on site.
In different years, he realized special, large-size stone tile wall painting applications for institutions such as Ankara University, Istanbul University, Turkish Pharmacists' Association. He continues his painting, ceramic and tile works in his studio in Eskişehir. The artist worked on printmaking at IMOGA in 2022.
