ZEKAİ ORMANCI

He was born in 1949 in Aydın. In 1973, he graduated from Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts, Department of Painting, as a student of Zeki Faik İzer and Özdemir Altan. He worked with Albert Bitran in the International Salzburg Summer Academy, which he went to in 1980 with the scholarship of the Austrian Government. Upon his return to Turkey, he was appointed as an instructor to Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts. In the same year, he founded the tapisserie studio. In 1986, he became an associate professor and became a professor in 1995. In 1993, he was invited to represent Turkey in the 'Texliles Mediterranees' exhibition organized by the international organization headquartered in Paris, ARTIFEX. He participated with two of his tapisserie works in the exhibition, which was held in Gruissan, Narbonne, France. He worked on printmaking at IMOGA in 2004. His works are exhibited in various museums and collections both in Turkey and abroad. While working in Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University; he passed away in Istanbul in 2008, leaving hundreds of works behind.
